Expression Calculator: Parentheses and Percentages

Calculate arithmetic expressions with parentheses, decimal numbers and percentages. Use *, x or × for multiplication and / or ÷ for division. Your expression is evaluated locally in this browser.

Calculate

Use a decimal point, without thousands separators. Prefilled values are editable examples.

Enter your values and select Calculate.

Formula and calculation method

Parentheses first; multiplication and division next, left to right; addition and subtraction last, left to right. A % suffix divides the preceding number by 100.

Worked example

(12.5 + 3) × 2 = 31, while 12.5 + 3 × 2 = 18.5. For a 10% increase on 100, enter 100 × (1 + 10%) = 110.

Assumptions and limitations

This is an arithmetic calculator, not an equation solver. Write 2*(3+4), not 2(3+4). Here 100+10% means 100+0.1, not 110. Browser floating-point arithmetic may round the last displayed digits. Do not enter thousands separators.
